One of the actual boxes recovered by the divers filled with the rare wine.

The Shipwrecked 1907 Heidsieck is the world’s most expensive wine. One bottle of this old wine costs $275,000. Its age alone didn’t contribute to its prize, also the history behind every bottle of it.

In 1997, divers found the shipwreck of the Swedish freighter Jönköping in the Gulf of Finland. The ship was charted to deliver spirits, via neutral Sweden, to the Imperial Court of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia when it was in 1916 by a German sub during World War I. Because of the frigid condition of the sea, over 200 bottles of the 1907 Heidsieck champagne survived. About 2000 bottles were salvaged from the ship and have been sold at auctions all over the world as a historic novelty.

Now, these wines that took more than 80 years to deliver are finally being sold to wealthy guests at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Moscow.

We are trying to get a member of the Luxaholic family into one of the exclusive auctions where the wine is being sold.  We hear the wine melts directly on your tongue it’s so smooth.

Until we can taste for ourselves we can only give the expensive and rare wine a temporary status of LUXAHOLIC APPROVED.  We will keep you updated on the progress.
